Happy December, everyone!! Time sure did fly by…wasn’t it just October?!?! This is typically the time that everyone is shopping for family and friends, wrapping presents around your children’s bedtime, and putting together a list for that holiday dinner. While things have been looking different for quite some time now, the rush of the holidays is on everyone’s minds. Often times, it can be STRESSFUL, to say the least! During this time, it is so important to take a moment, STOP, and breathe! It always works out!!!
I’m so glad that this month we are talking about Positivity/Engagement and Meaning with the focus of Resilience and Self-Compassion. With the stress of the holidays, this is a PERFECT time to have some self-compassion! The definition of self-compassion entails being warm and understanding toward ourselves when we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate, rather than ignoring our pain or being too hard on ourselves with self-criticism.
This week, the teachers were handed Self-Compassion journals. On their own time, they were asked to write in their journal every single day this month. At the end of each day, reflect on what went well, what was hard, and how we can try better the next day. What is most important is to give yourself grace when you had a hard moment or day.
There are so many benefits to writing in a journal, like clearing your mind and relieving stress!! We encourage you to get a journal and write in it at the end of each day.
Be sure to come back next week as we will be posting every week!!!
