This past week, we became scientists during Camp Mad Science! We had LOTS of experiments happening in all of the classrooms and would love to share them with all of you and we encourage you and your family to try them at home!
First thing’s first, always wear your safety goggles!
Next, let’s begin all the fun experiments!
We read the book, “Solid, Liquid, Gassy! (A Fairy Science Story)”. This story is about how a fairy scientist named Ester is experimenting with the water cycle in this enchanting STEM-and-magic-filled. Esther, the fairy, is rather unusual; unlike the other fairies, she does not believe in magic! Instead, she and her friends prefer to examine the world using the scientific method. Add this book to your shelf and find out what happens when she discovers what happens with ice when it gets warm.
Walking Water Experiment- a FUN way to learn all about primary and secondary colors or have fun by creating a rainbow!!
Stretchy Slime- Pour one cup of glue into a bowl. Then add 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Feel free to add 3 drops of food coloring. Mix well. Next, add 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution. Mix again. Continue to add a tablespoon of contact lens solutions and mix until you get a nice consistency.
Homemade Moon Sand- This is the easiest recipe to make! All you need is flour and oil. You can add food coloring too! Moon sand is moldable, but crumbles easily, is ready to be re-shaped, and doesn’t dry out- perfect for littles who are developing hand strength.
Some of the other fun experiments we made were DIY bouncy balls, volcanoes in the sand, and cotton candy in water.
Be sure to come back next week as it’s our LAST month of Summer Camp!
We will be focusing on Camp Into the Wild, Camp Farming Friends, Camp Art & Movement Sensation, and Camp Fiesta!!! You do NOT want to miss out!!!
Lastly, BBCLC will be CLOSED on the following dates:
