How Your Child Can Share their Accomplishments to Develop a Growth Mindset!

We are continuing this month with the focus of a Growth Mindset versus a Fixed Mindset as well as Stress and Worry!

This week, we put an “Accomplishment Jar” in each of the classrooms. The purpose of this is to help children develop a Growth Mindset. Accomplishing goals and achieving can encourage and motivate us to grow. This is a super SIMPLE way to for children to feel positive about their day. Find a jar, leave some paper and a pen or pencil out and allow your child to write and accomplishment and place it in the jar. It can be a simple thing, but this will enable your child to develop a positive outlook from an early age.

The teachers were gifted a journal and a pen this past week. The benefits of journaling can be a tool to cope with stress as well as mental health conditions.

Journaling can also help with:

  • Identifying fears or concerns that may be causing your stress or anxiety
  • Recognize triggers that exacerbate feelings of stress
  • Manage stress more efficiently in the future
  • Practice positive self-talk to build your confidence
  • Identify and reduce unhelpful thoughts and behaviors

Start by carving out some time every single day to journal, whether that’s the first thing in the morning before your house wakes up or right before you go to bed. Just keep it simple and free of rules, write as much as you want or as little as you want, depending on your day. Once it’s completed, you decide on if you want to share it or not.

We encourage you and your family to start an Accomplishment Jar and/or journal at home! Be sure to come back next week as we continue to focus on a Growth Mindset versus a Fixed Mindset as well as Stress and Worry!
